History

The history of the Norwegian Maritime Competence Center started out in April of 2008 as a result of talks between the Westre Group and Rolls-Royce. On the 5th of May 2008 the company Norwegian Maritime Competence Center was formally founded and a year later Rolls-Royce confirmed that they had elected Ålesund and the NMCC as their location to their European Technological Training Center.

After an extensive public process, the builder could finally start the construction of the NMCC on the 14th of April 2010.

His Royal Highness Crownprince Haakon carried out the official opening of the Norwegian Maritime Competence Center on the 8th of November 2012.
